Last Updated: April 8, 2026

Account & Authentication

Q: How do I create an account?
A: Download Cube and tap "Sign Up". You can register using your email or Google account. You'll need to accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to proceed.
Q: What information do I need to provide when signing up?
A: You'll need a valid email address, name, and to verify the Terms of Service. You can optionally add a profile picture and bio later.
Q: Can I change my email or password?
A: You can update your email in Settings > Account. If you signed up with Google, use your Google account settings to change your password.
Q: How do I delete my account?
A: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This will remove your profile and personal information, though transaction history may be retained for accounting purposes.

Circles & Groups

Q: What is a Circle?
A: A Circle is a group of friends or contacts you've added to Cube. You can create multiple circles for different groups (Friends, Family, Coworkers, etc.).
Q: How do I create a Circle?
A: Tap "Circles" > "Create New Circle", add a name and description. Once created, share the link with people you want to invite to join.
Q: Can I see who's in my Circles?
A: Yes, tap any Circle to see all members and their profiles. Only members can view the Circle's details.
Q: Can I remove someone from a Circle?
A: Circle organizers can remove members from Settings > Manage Members. Removed members lose access to that Circle.
Q: What happens to events if I delete a Circle?
A: Events in that Circle are archived but not deleted. You can still view past event records and expense history.
Q: Can I control who can see my Circle?
A: Yes! Circles have three access levels: Public (anyone can discover and request to join), Open (anyone can join without approval), and Closed (invite-only). Only Circle members can view events, expenses, and member details within the Circle.

Events & RSVPs

Q: How do I create an event?
A: Tap "Events" > "Create Event", fill in details (name, date, location, description), select which Circle to invite, then save.
Q: Can I create recurring events?
A: Yes! Cube supports recurring events. Set the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) when creating an event.
Q: How do I RSVP to an event?
A: Open the event and tap "Join" to RSVP yes, or "Drop" to cancel your RSVP. You can change your response anytime before the event.
Q: Can I invite people who aren't in my Circle?
A: You need to add them to a Circle first. Share the Circle link with them to invite them to join, then add them to events.
Q: Can I cancel an event?
A: Yes, as the event organizer, you can cancel from the event details. Attendees will be notified.
Q: What if someone RSVPs but doesn't show up?
A: Event organizers can mark attendees as "no-show" in the RSVP list. This removes them from the expense split and adjusts the amount to collect accordingly.

Expenses & Payments

Q: How do I add expenses to an event?
A: Open the event > "Expenses" > "Add Expense". Enter the amount and description. Cube assumes the organizer is paying and splits the cost equally among RSVPs.
Q: Can I split expenses unevenly?
A: This is coming in a future version! Currently, all expenses are split equally among attendees. We're building custom splitting options so organizers can split by item or custom amounts.
Q: How do I request payment from someone?
A: Cube makes it easy! You can:
  1. Use Cube's payment feature with Stripe to charge them automatically (if Autopay is enabled)
  2. See the exact amount owed in the expense breakdown
  3. For manual payments, contact them directly and they can pay via their preferred method (Venmo, bank transfer, etc.)
Q: Can Cube process payments directly?
A: Cube integrates with Stripe for payment processing in certain regions. If available in your area, you'll see payment options in the app.
Q: What if someone disputes an expense amount?
A: Contact the event organizer to adjust the split. Cube can help recalculate, but you may need to discuss adjustments directly with the group.
Q: Is there a fee for using Cube?
A: Cube is free to use! When you use Stripe for payments:
Q: What if I pay someone and they don't accept it?
A: If using Stripe, the payment will be pending. Contact them to confirm acceptance. For manual payments, confirm directly with the recipient.

Chat & Communication

Q: Can I message people outside of Circles?
A: Chat is Circle-based. You can only message people in your Circles. To chat with someone, add them to a Circle first.
Q: Can I delete messages?
A: Currently, messages are permanent. Think before you send! (We're considering message deletion in future updates.)
Q: Will I get notified of new messages?
A: Yes, if notifications are enabled. You'll receive push notifications for new Circle messages and event updates.
Q: Can I see who's typing?
A: Not in the current version, but we're exploring this feature.

Payments & Fraud

Q: Is my payment information safe?
A: Yes. Payment data is processed through Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified). We never store your full card number.
Q: What if I'm charged for something I didn't authorize?
A: Cube displays the event fee upfront before you join, and you authorize the charge by signing up. If you believe an event fee is fraudulent or didn't match what was described, contact the event organizer immediately. If charged through Stripe, you can dispute the charge with your bank or Stripe support.
Q: What if someone fraudulently adds me to an event and charges me?
A: Report this immediately via Settings > Report a Problem. For disputes:
  1. Contact the event organizer
  2. If it's Stripe, dispute through your bank
  3. Consider removing the person from your Circles
Q: Is Cube responsible if I get scammed?
A: Cube provides the platform for organizing expenses, but we are NOT responsible for fraud, scams, or disputes between users. You are responsible for verifying transactions before authorizing payments. Always verify with the person before paying.
Q: What should I do if I suspect fraud?
A:
  1. Screenshot the evidence
  2. Contact Settings > Report a Problem
  3. If Stripe: Dispute through your bank
  4. Consider removing the person from your Circles
  5. Tell your friends about the issue

Security & Privacy

Q: Who can see my profile?
A: Users in your Circles can see your display name. Your profile is private and activities are hidden. Only your display name (from your Cube Profile or Apple/Google sign-in) is visible to other users.
Q: Can I control what information is visible?
A: Yes! You can edit your profile to show/hide name, bio, profile picture, and other details in Settings > Profile.
Q: Does Cube sell my data?
A: No. We never sell personal data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Q: How is my location used?
A: Location permissions are optional. If enabled, we use your location for event mapping and check-ins. You control this in device settings.
Q: What data does Cube keep after I delete my account?
A: We delete your personal information, but may retain transaction records for accounting purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Payments & Autopay

Q: What are saved payment methods?
A: Saved payment methods let you store your card info securely via Stripe. When making payments for events, you can use your saved card without entering details again.
Q: How do I add a saved payment method?
A: Go to Profile > Payment Methods > Add Payment Method. Enter your card details securely through Stripe. We never see your full card number.
Q: Can I remove a saved payment method?
A: Yes, go to Profile > Payment Methods and tap Remove next to any saved method. This removes it from both Cube and Stripe, preventing future charges on that card.
Q: What is autopay?
A: Autopay lets you automatically authorize charges for future events in a series. When enabled for a series, you can join events with a single click instead of three clicks/screens. Autopay only applies to the series you enable it for—if you're in multiple series but only have autopay for one, you'll pay manually for the others.
Q: When are charges scheduled for autopay?
A: Charges typically go out 1 hour before the event starts. This gives you time to check your RSVP, add guests, and finalize the charge amount before payment is processed.
Q: Can I cancel an autopay charge?
A: Yes, you can drop your RSVP anytime before the charge goes out (1 hour before the event). Once charged, contact the organizer to request a refund.
Q: What if my autopay charge fails?
A: You'll get a notification that the charge failed. Update your payment method and pay from the outstanding balance page. Contact the organizer if you need additional assistance.
Q: How do I enable autopay for an event?
A: When you RSVP to an event, you'll be presented with payment authorization. Accept the terms to enable autopay for that event series or specific date.
